Garden office and house extension, Rowde, Devizes Wiltshire
The family were fast outgrowing their terraced cottage in the quiet rural village of Rowde, just outside Devizes. Not wishing to move from such a pleasant location they decided to extend their home to provide a dining room adjacent to their existing kitchen. In addition, they required a home office in the garden to allow them to free up one of the bedrooms for their growing family. The office would be one and a half stories high to provide some much-needed high-level storage. The garden office was located close to the house, to avoid compromising too much of the small garden. It was designed as a lightweight timber frame building, clad in weatherboarding in complete contrast to the red brick of the house.
