Conversion of public convenience into a holiday home, Stockwell Common, Gloucestershire
This disused public convenience below Stockwell Common, on the road from Prestbury to Winchcombe, was sold by the local authority to my client with a view to it being converted into a small house. A lengthy planning procedure resulted in permission for a holiday let, after a considerable struggle. The design was limited to a small raising of the existing monopitched roof, which left little room for much innovation in the internal layout. A mezzanine floor was added to provide a bedroom. The lower floor incorporated a kitchen/dining/living space with a bathroom.
